Troubleshoot

If JENI® isn’t working the way you expect, this page covers the most common problems, why they happen, and how to fix them. Each section below is written in plain language so you can get back up and running without digging through complicated instructions. If these steps don’t solve the problem, contact us through our Support Page and include your log file for a faster resolution.

Where are my report files saved to?
The JENI® for Mac and Windows program saves your report files to your DOWNLOADS folder to a dedicated folder. The Maintenance Summary report will automatically open in your default browser each time the program has finished.

JENI® Activation Keeps Failing
Sometimes, your VPN can be blocked from our servers because the VPN provider has been blacklisted for criminal activity. It is recommended that you pause your VPN during activation. JENI® runs offline once activation completes however the program will occasionally verify with the server that the program is licensed and matched to the appropriate device. To avoid any connection issues it is advised that you pause your VPN while running JENI®.

JENI® Won’t Open
If JENI® doesn’t launch, the most likely causes are antivirus blocking it, a SmartScreen or Gatekeeper warning, or an incomplete download. On Windows, click More info → Run anyway if you see the blue SmartScreen message, or right-click and choose Run as administrator. On Mac, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the message about JENI®, and click Open Anyway. Temporarily disable antivirus if needed, and re-download from your original link if you think the file may have been cut off.

Activation Key Won’t Work
Most activation key errors come down to small typos or connection issues. Double-check every character, paying special attention to O vs 0 and 1 vs l. Make sure your computer is online for the first activation and temporarily turn off VPN or firewall software if it’s blocking the request. If the problem continues, send us your order email and key so we can verify it and help you activate.

Admin Rights Needed
JENI® needs elevated permissions to clean and repair your system. If Windows says you need admin rights, right-click the JENI® file and choose Run as administrator. On managed work or school computers, you may need to have an IT admin enter credentials before JENI can run.

JENI® Freezes or Gets Stuck
If JENI® seems to stall mid-process, it’s often because another program is interfering or your system has a heavy amount of clutter to process. Close all other cleanup tools and non-essential apps before running JENI®, then give it at least 3–5 minutes to finish. Restart your computer and try again if it still won’t move forward, and send us the Desktop log file if it always stops in the same place.

Didn’t Notice Any Changes
JENI® works quietly in the background and doesn’t display constant pop-ups or animations. Some fixes happen behind the scenes, so you may notice faster performance or better responsiveness rather than visual changes. Check the log file for a breakdown of what was fixed, skipped, or flagged. If your issue remains, send us the log along with a short description and we’ll review it.

Download Link Not Working
If your download link has expired or isn’t loading, contact us from the same email address you used to purchase JENI®. We’ll verify your order and send you a fresh link at no cost. You never have to pay twice for the same license.

License Error After Hardware Changes
JENI® licenses are tied to the first device they’re activated on, so replacing your motherboard or moving to a different computer will trigger a license error. If your hardware failed and needed replacement, contact us and explain the situation. In verified cases of genuine hardware failure, we may be able to offer a discounted replacement license.

Antivirus Flags JENI® as a Virus
Some antivirus programs can be overly cautious with system repair tools like JENI®. If your antivirus shows a warning, add JENI® to its trusted or allowed list. For peace of mind, you can upload the file to VirusTotal to confirm it’s clean. Our software is safe and free from malicious code.

Program Crashed or Closed Unexpectedly
Crashes can be caused by outdated operating system files, driver issues, or conflicts with other running software. Restart your computer, ensure Windows or macOS is fully updated, and try running JENI® again. If it continues to crash, send us your Desktop log file along with what you were doing right before it closed so we can pinpoint the cause.

JENI® Runs but Shows Errors in the Log
Some fixes require specific system permissions or certain files to be present. If JENI® can’t complete a step, it will note it in the log file. Review the log for details and send it to support if you’re unsure how to address the errors.

Mac Says the File is Damaged or Can’t Be Verified
This is a common Gatekeeper message when downloading apps outside the App Store. Re-download JENI® from your official purchase link, make sure the file isn’t quarantined by antivirus, and use Open Anyway from Privacy & Security.

Slow Performance After Running JENI®
In rare cases, clearing certain caches can cause a short-term slowdown while the system rebuilds them. This is normal and usually resolves after a restart or a day of regular use.

Update Check Fails
JENI® is able to run fully offline. In the event you need to disconnect from the internet and run JENI® to fix your computer it will skip the update check. In the event of an update failure, please contact support at https://jenisystems.com/support. We are dedicated to our clients satisfaction, privacy, and security.

Log File Won’t Save or Send
If the log file isn’t created, check your desktop permissions or available space. If it still won’t save, take a screenshot of any error messages and send that to support instead.
